GoMining Discount & GMT Locking Explained

The GMT discount is the single biggest lever you directly control in GoMining. Lock GMT, cut your electricity fee, keep more of what you mine. Here's exactly how it works.

What the discount is

Every day you pay an electricity fee on your hashrate. By holding or locking GMT — GoMining's token — you build coverage against that fee. The more coverage you have relative to your fee, the larger your discount:

discount = min( 20%, floor( coverage ÷ threshold ) × 1% )

In practice the discount rises in 1% steps up to a 20% cap. A miner running at a 20% discount keeps meaningfully more BTC than an identical one paying full price.

Why it matters so much

The discount applies to your fee every single day, so it compounds. Cutting a recurring cost is often a better use of capital than buying more hashrate that itself carries a fee — which is exactly the trade-off worth optimizing.

How much GMT should you lock?

There's a sweet spot. Lock too little and you leave discount on the table; lock too much and that capital might have earned more as efficient hashrate. The right answer depends on your fee, your miner efficiency, and GMT's price. This is the core question our planner solves — it compares locking GMT against buying TH and upgrading efficiency, then shows the split that maximises your net return.

VIP tiers

Beyond the fee discount, GMT and hashrate feed into VIP tiers — status levels that unlock extra benefits. You generally qualify by your total hashrate or your locked GMT, whichever is higher.
